- Customer loved Crafty Candles Soy Candle Wax sold at Hobby Lobby in 32 oz bags; a China-made wax now replaces it, and the customer seeks explanation.
Hello! I am a HUGE Hobby Lobby fan and a professional candle maker, I was also a fan of the "Crafty Candles Soy Candle Wax" (made in Oklahoma City in the USA and sold via Hobby Lobby in 32 oz bags in the candle department). Yesterday, I was in my local Hobby Lobby and I noticed a new candle wax now being sold in its place that is from China.
I was hoping you all could offer an explanation for no longer supplying such a lovely product that makes the most beautiful candles.

User's recommendation: Hobby Lobby is simply the best in product availability and quality and also in customer service.

Verified ReviewerCustomer complaint in your store
- I felt uncomfortable and followed by staff due to tattoos.
- I paid for everything; nothing from the store was in my purse; I won't return.
I went into Hobby Lobby, your store off of Reno by the interstate, and I have never felt so uncomfortable in your store. Just like I did, I automatically put everything back that I was going to buy because your store and your people want to judge a book by its cover.
Because I go in with my $300 purse that I bought but have tattoos showing on my arms, they automatically assume that I'm going to steal from them, and that's not the case. You know I work hard for my money; I'm an assistant manager at Sonic. I have five beautiful children, and I don't have time to do all that. This is not the first time.
You know, my daughter and I like to get things there that we like to build and stuff like that to create memories, and now I can't even go in that store or don't feel comfortable going in that store even though I work for my money, and I'm getting harassed by your employees on a daily basis more than once when I go in that store. Like I said, this is happening more than on one occasion, a time where my daughter was like, 'Why are the workers following us?' Even though we checked out in front of them. Well, I didn't buy anything today; I am over, over, over upset, and I want something done about the situation because I'm an assistant manager at Sonic, and that's not how you help or treat your customers at all. I want to say what happened was when one of your stalkers kept bumping into me, and I saw her look in my purse.
First of all, I paid for everything that's in my purse; nothing from your store was in my purse. She was very rude, bumped into me, and I should have raised *** at your store, but I didn't.
I will let you know that I will not be coming back to your store or probably not even to Hobby Lobby, period. My name is Jessica Chapman, 405-588-****.

Verified ReviewerCashier errors, sale prices not honored, staff error
- $50 incorrect sale-item charge.
- Later $216.81 overcharge refunded to the card.
- Receipt and refund shown in a picture.
Well folks, back again. I wrote one of the earlier reviews where I was cheated $50 for a cashier not being familiar with sale items to deduct the correct amount (40-50%).
I stayed away for a long time.
I made a stupid mistake and went back. This time I was cheated $216, not funny to me, but staff weren't overly concerned, it was like a joke. I made sure I got the refund back on my charge card. The same mistakes over and over again.
.
Picture below shows receipt and return of $216.81. you'd think over time some improvements would be made but stuff like this is happening at all of their stores.

Verified Reviewer |Public Embarrassment
- Customer says an employee questioned their integrity at Hobby Lobby Baton Rouge.
- On Oct 11, 2024, staff called them a liar; manager did nothing.
My name is Dustin Cutforth. I'm an 8-year veteran of the USMC, and my fiancee is an avid consumer of Hobby Lobby.
Never before today have we been more insulted or had our integrity questioned by one of your salespeople while we were shopping, and then out loud in front of everyone when we were leaving! This was not only done in front of a manager that witnessed it and said nothing. On Friday, October 11, 2024, while my wife and I were looking for Christmas decor for the tree and our house, my wife, being the woman that she is, couldn't make up her mind. This one individual worker of the College Drive store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, had the nerve to call us out when we decided to wait and maybe bring the kids with us tomorrow to make some decisions.
It wasn't the part of asking us, 'Y'all changed your mind?' It was the 'I bet y'all left that all in the buggy didn't you?' We both embarrassingly smiled and laughed and said, 'Well yeah, we did.' But then she had the nerve again to question my integrity and my intentions by calling us a liar by saying 'Yeahhhh,' like we were lying. I’ve seen some things and been around and the pure ignorance and lack of class that some people have in this world is astounding. I just want you to know the type of people you have working at your stores, and managers who do nothing about it.
We made it a point to put everything back because we have class, know better, and we know how to treat others. Your employees need a crash course on the subject.
- Pros are the weekly sales and holiday and home decor
- Closed on sundays and closing at 8 pm weeknights
- Poor management
- Rude personnel
Preferred solution: I can’t put a dollar value on a public embarrassment me and my wife endured that evening so but I do believe a monetary gift would be in order to keep our business which we have given you for many years. Large gift card is in order
User's recommendation: If an employee is unprofessional and you feel like I felt when it happened, I suggest finding the manager or doing a formal complaint. It’s not fair to have to move locations because of an employee.

- Wooden cow head with glasses was priced at $14.99.
- Same item shown at $8.99 in another spot; I bought the $8.99 cow and a bracelet.
Okay so I saw a wooden milk cow head with glasses on it, thought it was cute, price was $14.99 i was surprised as I thought it would be like $7 (its not super big) so I didnt get that one but I saw another in a different spot That one was $8.99!!! Same object nothing different but way different prices!
Thats seemed very backhanded and shady & to make it worse I keep running into the same problem, same object with different prices on it! I dont know how hobby lobby gets away with it!!(about receipt I got a bracelet & the $8.99 cow)
- Has what i need as someone who crafts & loves decor
- Prices for same items vary vastly
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Always check every object behind the first because prices vairy vastly!

- I was scheduled at 6 am for 1.5 months.
- You only get a 30-minute lunch after six hours.
- The warehouse is a hallway with boxes blocking exits.
I work for hobby lobby for a month in a half. My boss always puts me on schedule at 6 am.
You only get a 30 minute lunch break if you are there for 6 hours or more that is it. The warehouse is a hallway and boxes in the warehouse are stocked to the ceiling and blocks fire exit doors. The seasonal part-time employees keep leaving because the training video's don't teach you anything for one, no one trains you about what you need to know about the position for one or How to do things. They throw you in with totes with items in them and expect you to know where they go.
No one is any help because management wants you work by yourself and figure it out.
If they see the items in the wrong areas they write you up. The place is so messed up it needs a lot of work and to be organized a lot better.
Preferred solution: None
I was in the Horsham pa Hobby Lobby and wasn’t treated nicely
- Returned a damaged craft item within the store's policy period, but the return was denied.
- The cashier and manager were rude.
I tried to return a craft that I got my nieces who are three and five years old. It was damaged.
I was with in the store return policy time period and they still wouldnt take the item back. The cashier was rude and the manager was rude.
User's recommendation: I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
Complaint about Rachael!
- Rachael was rude and unprofessional at checkout, with no greeting.
- Candles advertised 40% off; cashier said one item was not on sale despite sign.
A woman named Rachael needs to be fired!
She was beyond rude!
She was complaining that she wanted to get off and was very mad that they made her open her register back up to ring people up! There was only one register open and I asked her are you open and she said no!
Im off and then the manager made her so when they told me to go to her aisle the first thing she said was well here you are again!!!
Not hello!
Rude! Then because one of the items I had was a candle and all candles were 40% but this one she told me was not so I said then I dont want it. It is misleading because the sign was in front of it so I thought it was. She stopped ringing up my stuff.
I asked her why? She said Im waiting to see what else you dont want? Who does that? I said I want everything else because its all on sale!
Then she mutters to another employee Im ready to go yall can have this!
Again rude, unprofessional and she doesnt know how to treat customers!
Then she states something about privilege?
I said who are you talking about? She said you! I was like that has nothing to do with me asking about a 40% discount?
I have reported you to corporate and I will keep reporting you until they fire you!
Let me enlighten you since you are an idiot! Learn when to use the word privilege!
You dont even understand it! You are the racist!
I bet if I was black you would have treated me totally different and that is called discrimination so educate yourself Rachael! She needs to be fired!

Verified ReviewerOvercharged and will not refund
- 40% wedding discount not applied to the card box; adjusted.
- Charged for 18 vs 12; receipt shows 12 + 6; camera shows duplicate entry.
I returned most of the items I wasn't going to use for my wedding. First, I noticed the 40% off Wedding was not applied to my wedding card box, so I went in and got it adjusted, no problem.
At the time of my return, I noticed a 6 x $2.99 charge. I was wondering what it was, as I didn't buy 6 of the same item. I realized the only $2.99 charge was for the white Queen Anne floral pick. I only purchased 12 but was charged for 18.
One 12 x $2.99 and 6 x $2.99 were on the receipt. The cashier didn't count each of my items as I had multiple floral picks. Management checked the camera and it showed me placing the same floral picks at two different times. She rang them up twice, and I didn't catch it.
Management said there is nothing they can do because the camera shows me placing them on the counter at different times. The camera doesn't even show how many I put on the counter. I am beyond upset because I know for a fact I only got 12 at this store. I was making 12 centerpieces, so I only needed 12.
I was in there for a few hours deciding what to buy so I know what I bought. What happened to 'the customer is always right'?

Verified ReviewerDeceptive and confusing sales pricing
- Signs advertised 50% off, but items rang up at full price.
- End caps had 50% off signs that didn’t apply.
I am a frequent shopper at Hobby Lobby. Today was not a good day at Seneca SC Hobby Lobby.
I was shopping for inexpensive gifts for Valentines Day for children in a group home. There were 50 percent off signs just about every where with inventory notes covering parts of the signs. I spent a good bit of time choosing gifts only to get to the register to find out they were not on sale. Most gifts were from end caps that had 50 percent off but they were not 50 percent off.
This is very deceptive and annoying and very time consuming Example I chose 6 small plaques off the rack that had a sign that said 50 % off, however they were not half price because of the sticker on the back. Mixing full price items on shelves with sales signs is misleading and deceptive. One sign was on the end cap but was for merchandise around the corner. I could go on but you get the point. I expect more from a store that claims to have Christian values.
I spend a great deal of money at Hobby Lobby but today was more than I care to deal with. It will be awhile before I returnif I return
User's recommendation: Bring a lawyer to help you figure out pricing and what is on sale. You will be frustrated and waist way too much time figuring out their games

What is going on at Hobby Lobby Stores ?..
I dont like where this is goingHobby Lobby is a Craft Store, not a Walmart, what about all the Crac
Ftets that has kept you in buisness all these years, I dont know what your kids are doing, but they are just making Jeff Bezos of Amazon a richer man. Hobby Lobby was where you went for ribbons, scrapbooking things, you have NOTHING now, if I want a comforter I will go to Walmart, toaster for any appliances, not hobby lobby, I think you are making a bad move, but let Amazon just get rich !!
hobby lobby was the best hobby store, you had Micheals beat, and now we have nothing, Im so disappointed in what is going on, you need to take control of your buisness, bring back the sore we all new and loved, if.. it goes to a bed bath and beyond I will not shop there, I didnt when they had their own stores, I think this will go bad, Thames control away from your kids, its bad, we are the consumers, at my last visit it was the talk at the store in Kingsport , Tn 37664, you can email me.

Verified ReviewerManager Discrimination
- Manager said he'd find reasons to write me up; vacation wasn't entered.
- Fired by Chris Flood; comments about my fiancée and biracial status.
Definitely not resolved at all
Then I put in for vacation and made sure it was okay but found out while on vacation that it wasnt ever put in.
While on vacation I got terribly sick and literally had no choice but to call off for two days, one of which my fiancé called in for me because I physically couldnt and when I came back in Chris Flood fired me and kept mentioning the fact that I had a girl fiancée. If she would ever come into the store they would literally have half the employees following her and had no problem telling me it was because shes biracial.

If you even consider causing issues in the store you are making tattooed people look bad. I doubt this has anything to do with your tattoos.
Do you really think you are the first person to go in there with tattoos? I bet you weren't even the first person of the day to go in there with tattoos.
